Concrete planned before it's pouredand explained before you sign

Driveline Orem Concrete is a concrete contractor in Orem. I started it in 2013 after years of quoting jobs at a supply yard and then learning the work on a crew. You can read more about how we got started.
Most of our calls come from homeowners, along with builders and small property owners. They range from a plain patio to a settled corner nobody else wanted to price, and because concrete is hard to undo, we work out the details with you before anything gets poured.
- Written bids that list what's included
- The owner sees every job in person
- A plan for when to use it
Concrete work we dofor homes, builders and businesses
A new driveway poured over a base we dig out and pack, so it carries your cars instead of sinking with the dirt.
Room outside for a table and a grill, with the slab sloped so rain runs away from your house, not toward it.
Stamped concrete gives a patio or walk the look of stone or brick, pressed into the surface while it's still workable.
Walks from the driveway to the door or around the house, finished with a light broom texture so shoes grip when it's wet.
If your garage slab is cracked, chipping or sitting lower than the driveway, we can break it out and pour a fresh floor.
Color, texture and borders for concrete that sits where people see it, like a front entry or a backyard gathering spot.
Poured walls that hold back a slope, including the awkward ones on a hillside lot that other crews would rather pass on.
Interior floors for basements, workshops and outbuildings, poured level so whatever goes on top sits right.
The deck around your pool needs grip under bare feet and drainage away from the water, and we plan both before the pour.
Front and back steps with even heights, so nobody has to think about where to put their feet.
The slab a house, garage or addition sits on, set on a packed subgrade, the ground it rests on, and checked before we pour.
Foundations for new homes, additions and outbuildings, laid out to the plans and timed around your builder and the city's inspections.
For small property owners and businesses, a concrete lot built for daily traffic and graded so water drains where it should.
Footings are the buried concrete that spreads the weight of a deck, wall or addition, and we size them to suit what sits above.
A sunken slab or settled corner usually has a reason underneath it, and we find that cause before we raise anything.
Clean cuts through existing concrete for a doorway, a plumbing run or a section that has to come out.
Many jobs pair up, like a driveway with new steps. Size, tear-out, base work and finish set the price, the season and any permit set the schedule, and your estimate shows what's included and what isn't.

Why Orem picks usfor the plain jobs and the odd ones
You deal with the person who bid your job from the first visit to the walkthrough, and you know what you're paying for before we pour.
A bid that says what's left out
Our written bids list what's in the job and what isn't, because vague quotes are where most arguments over concrete start.
The planner has stood on your property
I come out to every job myself, so whoever plans your concrete has seen the ground and answered your questions face to face.
We dig out the base, not just rake it
The base is hidden on day one and it's the first thing people want to cut, but the slab leans on it for the rest of its life, so we don't skimp there.
Water checked before the forms go in
We look at where water runs on your lot before we set forms, so the new slab falls away from the house instead of toward it.
The awkward jobs are our favorite
A settled corner, a tight cut or a wall on a slope is the work we enjoy most, because figuring those out is the interesting part of this trade.
A plan for the cure and after
We help you plan around the season and the curing, the days new concrete needs to harden before use, and the upkeep after. Call (385) 533-2723 to start.

Questions about concrete work
How much does concrete work cost in Orem, UT?
It depends on the job, so I don't put a number on it until I've seen your property and written the estimate. Size, thickness, how much old concrete comes out and how much base work the ground needs move the price most. A plain broom finish costs less than stamped or colored concrete.
Why do concrete quotes vary so much between contractors?
Usually because they aren't pricing the same job, since one bid includes tear-out, base prep and joint cutting while another leaves them out or never says. That's why our bids list what's included and what isn't. Lay two bids side by side and ask about anything missing.
How long before I can drive on a new concrete driveway?
You can usually walk on new concrete well before you can park on it, and I'll give you the timing for your pour when we walk the finished job. Curing runs slower in cool weather, so the season changes the wait, and driving on it too early can crack a slab that would have held.
Is Driveline Orem Concrete licensed and insured?
Yes, we're licensed and insured. If you'd like to see proof before you hire us, ask when I come out for the estimate.
Do you remove the old concrete before pouring a new driveway or patio?
Yes, on a replacement we break out the old slab and haul it away, then dig out and pack the base before we pour. Skipping that step is why a lot of old slabs sink in the first place.
Do you guarantee your concrete work?
Yes, our promise on every job is your satisfaction, guaranteed. The written estimate sets out what we'll do and what we won't before we start, so we're both clear on what the finished job should look like.
Will my new concrete slab crack like the old one?
Concrete can still crack, but a packed base and well-timed joints decide whether it cracks along a line you planned or wanders across the slab. We cut control joints, shallow grooves that give the slab a set place to crack, soon after the pour, and we avoid pouring in midday heat when we can because it tends to leave a weak, dusty top.
Do I need a permit for concrete work in Orem?
It depends on the job, so we check with the city before we schedule anything, and if a permit is needed we handle the paperwork and set up inspections with you. The City of Orem's Community Development office issues building permits, and its list says retaining walls under 4 feet, measured from grade, need no building permit unless they support extra weight above them. A drive approach, where the driveway meets the street, needs an engineering permit, and for anything unclear the city asks you to call 801-229-7198.
